BT has come top in a campaign launched by the magazine Take a Break and recruitment agency Jobs4mothers to recognise the bosses who are most committed to giving jobs to mothers.
Caroline Waters, group director of people and policy, met Prime Minister Gordon Brown during the Jobs 4 Mums 2009 award ceremony - and was presented with the award by minister for women Harriet Harman.
Caroline said: "I was absolutely thrilled to collect this award on behalf of BT - where more than 97 per cent of new mums return to work after maternity leave, compared with a national average of just 40%."
She believes this is largely due to BT's flexible working solutions which give women the ability to take control of their work-life balance and follow their chosen career path while also being committed and active mums. She said BT is also committed to tackling occupational segregation and ensuring that jobs in technology, science and engineering are open to women.
