Becoming a TBYB centre

There are a number of case studies from existing centres, describing how they use BT phones to help their clients.

If you are interested in becoming a Try Before You Buy centre in partnership with BT, just fill in the request form via the link at the bottom of this page. We will contact you to finalise the details.

How TBYB works

You will receive the latest inclusive phones on loan and be provided with all available literature, and assistance by telephone or email should you require it.

Centres must meet certain criteria to qualify:

  • Open to the public at set hours during the week, preferably as a drop-in centre, open five days a week.
  • Centres that are open by appointment only will be considered if reasonable appointment slots are made available. Accessible to disabled people
  • Manned by professionals or skilled volunteers

Each Try Before You Buy centre will nominate one key contact, who will:

  • Provide BT with the necessary information for inclusion on the web site and notify us of any necessary amendments
  • Ensure the security of the loaned equipment
  • Provide six monthly feedback to BT on the number of visitors, interest in the products and orders that have resulted

It is not possible to loan phones for use in non-permanent locations, such as church or village halls. BT retains the right to withdraw loaned equipment if usage is low or the equipment is not looked after in a secure and managed location.

Typical loaned equipment

We supply each TBYB centre with a selection of items chosen to demonstrate features that may be beneficial for their clients. The actual phones loaned will vary according to the particular disability the centre serves.

Examples of the typical equipment that we might supply include our very popular large button phones, cordless handsets and amplified ringer.
