Working with others

BT is committed to helping our customers understand and benefit from new developments in the field of communications and related technology.

In order to do this, we believe it is important to draw on the expertise available among third parties, including disability and age-related charities and consumer organisations. We actively build relationships and maintain this network of experts to ensure that BT is consulting effectively with appropriate stakeholders and to share our own knowledge and research on inclusion products, services and best practice.

BT works in partnership with a number of organisations and is a founder member of Employers Forum on Disability and Help the Aged’s engage business network.

The right help

We also contribute in other ways. For example, Try Before You Buy is a scheme in partnership with organisations that operate independent demonstration or resource centres. BT provides these centres with loan phones so that members of the public can ‘try before they buy’ in a non sales environment.

This is a valuable way for older and disabled people to get independent advice and try out telephones and other technology, so they can purchase exactly what they need.

Information for Healthcare Professionals

We aim to support healthcare professionals who are enabling independent living amongst older and disabled clients by providing up to date information on communication options. As well as the latest product information and guides available on this website, we provide a dedicated number into BT for assistance with client’s communication needs and ‘Connections’ which is written specifically for professionals working with older or disabled people.
