Introduction to The BSL Broadband Guide
This guide explains simply what broadband is - and the benefits which it offers to sign language users.
About 250,000 people regularly use BSL – not just deaf people, but their family and friends, professionals working with the deaf community and those learning the language.
Deaf people were quick to adopt mobile phone texting as a useful way of communicating.
But broadband technology offers even more. As well as constant access to email and instant messaging, it lets people sign to each other live in BSL.
A growing number now provide information in BSL. And broadband will be used to provide BSL-English interpreting services allowing communications in sign language in real time.
Find out what broadband can offer you in our BSL Broadband Guide.
