BT's new Digital cordless telephone voted 'most accessible'Gadget expert Ian Macrae gave BT's Freestyle 750 a great review on BBC Radio 4's In Touch programme. During the programme for blind and visually impaired people, aired on Tuesday 4th November, Ian called the Freestyle 'the most accessible domestic phone that I've seen around at the moment'. Ian praised the Freestyle's good large buttons with very strongly contrasted print numbers and the fact that it still manages to appear graceful and stylish because of its slim design and silver finish. He particularly liked the answering machine's red LED display that shows the number of messages waiting and enthusiastically described the one touch speech feedback feature on the message button. Ian said that talking to people shows that what they really want is something that's easy to use, big buttons that are easy for them to find and a screen that you can read. He went on to say that this is particularly true for many older and disabled people who 'don't want lots of whistles and gongs.' He found that the Freestyle was the first handset on which he'd actually been able to enter names and numbers into the phone book by himself without sighted assistance, simply because of the size of the letters and numbers displayed on the screen. The Freestyle 750 was designed following BT's inclusive design principles and is part of the company's new low energy range. It retails for £39.99 and is available with either single, duo or trio handset options from the BT online shop or via 0800 800 150.
