Message from BT's Disability ChampionWelcome to BT's Inclusion website. I am delighted to have been recently appointed BT's Disability Champion and would like to welcome you to our website. Our Inclusion Team has been promoting inclusive customer service - equal access to our phone service - for over 20 years. This includes provision for textphone users, offering BT information in accessible formats and developing products that appeal to all our customers, disabled or not. Take a look at our Product Development section for more about our commitment to developing inclusive design. We also continue to manage partnerships with healthcare professionals across the UK who help us to keep older and disabled people informed about the wide range of BT products and services available to them. This includes the option of trying out BT phones in a local disability resource centre. Visit our Outreach Service section to find out more. BT absolutely understands the value of a traditional phone service for many of our older and disabled customers. We also strongly believe that new technology can enhance the quality of life of all our customers and we are now focussing on understanding how broadband and other technologies are improving the lives of older and disabled people. Our Research and Development projects include using BT Broadband to provide talking books for disabled people. We have also set ourselves the challenge of investigating how broadband improves communication for Deaf people who use British Sign Language (BSL) and are proud to take the lead as the first commercial organisation to include information in BSL on a Website. See our BT Sign pages and let us know what you think. I hope you find the information on our site useful in understanding how older and disabled customers can get the very best from their relationship with BT. Sally Davis
