The New Freestyle 710: a hearing therapist's view

Val Tait, a Hearing Therapist who works in Freeman Hospital, Newcastle, and who is herself deaf, applauded the new Freestyle 710 digital cordless telephone from BT saying that it would be suitable for many of her clients.

Val's work involves giving hearing impaired people information on all kinds of equipment that can make their life easier and improve their independence. After trying out the Freestyle 710 phone, the features that stood out for her most included:

  • Ease of use - she found the controls very user friendly and a nice size

  • Sound controls and volume - she was particularly pleased with the high visibility of the volume control along with how loud the sound could go

  • Lettering size on the screen was considered very easy to read

  • She thought the handset had a nice streamlined shape and was light-weight

  • And she described the accompanying guide as 'idiot-proof'.
