Amplification:Vivienne makes a call for helpViv has a hearing loss so severe that, according to text books she should only be able to use a text phone. However she has persevered with voice phones and on the recommendation of independent suppliers she recently purchased a BT phone with volume control. One morning Viv's car refused to start so she rang her breakdown company for assistance. Viv remembers: "It was with some degree of fear and trembling I put my newly acquired amplified phone to the test. I could not make head to tail of the recorded message, but I held on for about 30 seconds and the call was answered. Within about 3 to 5 minutes I had an engineer dispatched to the house. Due to arrive in 90 minutes, he was here in 25 - though of course that's not thanks to BT!
