Converse 1200: Mr Wilson catches up with his Grand daughters

Mr Maurice Wilson, 78 had trouble hearing the phone ring and his caller's voice as he only has hearing in one ear. He visited the Royal National Institute for the Deaf at Woodford Green where he was encouraged to have a hearing test and the possibility of having a hearing aid. He was also advised about the usefulness of lip-reading lessons.

While Mr Wilson was at the centre he saw the telephones that form part of the centre's Try Before You Buy partnership with BT. He told staff of his struggles on the telephone and with their help he tried out several of the models on display.

He decided to buy a Converse 1200 because in addition to the incoming volume control the telephone also has an inductive coupler to help cut out background noise should he start wearing his hearing aid switched to the telecoil setting. He also liked the 10 one touch memory buttons on the keypad of the Converse 1200 because they will make it easier for him to dial friends and family.

Mr Wilson is already making the most of his new telephone; he has just had long talks with his grand daughters who told him all about their recent trip to Disneyland.
