Emergency alarms

Today more and more people want to live independently in their own homes for as long as possible, but many need a little extra support in order to do so. Often called Community Alarms or Social Alarms, there are various types of emergency alarm systems available  mainly used by people living on their own who want the security of being able to call for help in an emergency. Simply pressing a button worn as a pendant around your neck or sometimes on a wrist strap will summon help after a fall or other emergency.

How to get an alarm

There are over 300 alarm schemes run by local authority housing or social services departments. Some Housing associations and charities also supply them and you can buy private alarm systems such as BT Home Security.
