The BT Textphone

Our rental textphone has a keyboard that you use to type what you want to say and a screen so that you can read what the person on the other end of the phone line is typing back to you. It plugs into a standard phone line and an electricity supply. Useful features include:

A memory for storing text conversations
A phone book directory where you can store up to 120 names and phone numbers for easy dialling out
A text answer machine with the option of writing your own greeting message
Incoming or outgoing call register for use with BT Caller Display (a separate quarterly fee is payable)
An emergency button giving you direct text access to the emergency services
Voice carry over also known as VCO or voice through. If you connect an ordinary phone to the textphone you can talk and listen during a call.
With additional equipment you can connect the textphone to a printer or a computer.

If you are a disabled customer you can apply for VAT exemption by completing the application form sent out in the box with the phone.

Ordering a BT Textphone

The BT Textphone is only available to rent. Rental payments are due quarterly in advance with a minimum rental period of 18 months.

Faults

If your rental BT Textphone becomes faulty we will normally send a replacement the next working day if you report the fault before 2pm. To report a fault with your BT Textphone call the numbers shown above.
