Accessible Websites

Web accessibility is all about making sure that everyone, but particularly people with disabilities can easily use websites and other on-line services.  In simple terms an accessible web site is one which doesn't cause problems to people who use a computer in a different way.

For example, some blind and partially sighted people look at websites with screen readers, which convert what is shown on the screen into either speech or Braille. For conditions such as dyslexia, being able to adjust the text and background colours will go a long way to making a site accessible.

At BT we are committed to developing products and services that can be used by all our customers regardless of ability and this includes our websites. In this section we explain what web accessibility is and why its important, show how we are working to improve the accessibility of our websites and provide some helpful advice for web developers new to accessibility.
