How do I use Browsealoud to read text to me?
When Browsealoud is running on your computer a circular icon will show in your system tray which is at the bottom right of your browser window.

If you are looking at a website that will work with Browsealoud this will change to:

you will also find your mouse pointer changes to display; the Browsealoud circles.
Browsealoud will normally start each time your computer starts. You will know thatBrowsealoud is running on your computer when the Browsealoud icon is displayed in the system tray beside your clock.

If Browsealoud is not running
- click on the Start button,
- select All Programs or Programs,
- select Texthelp Systems,
- select Browsealoud.
You can choose how you would like Browsealoud to read text to you.
- double click on the Browsealoud icon in your system tray
- Click on the Speech tab to set up your choice of Browsealoud voice. Adjusting the slider bars for pitch, speed and volume changes how the voice will sound. Below these is a list of different voices, including male and female British voices that you can choose from. You can also select the following:

Automatically speak when pointer hovers over text - if this is ticked , Browsealoud will read aloud an area of text when you move your mouse over it. It will stop reading the text when you move the mouse off it. If there is no tick in the box, Browsealoud will only read out blocks of text that you highlight.

Tapping CTRL key starts or stops speech - press your Ctrl key to start or stop Browsealoud reading.

If you use Internet Explorer to view web pages you can also choose that Browsealoud highlights the words it is reading out on your screen. This can make it easier to follow what is being said. The colours used to highlight the text can be changed by clicking on the Settings tab.

Again if you use Internet Explorer you can set Browsealoud to "Continue reading from the pointer". This sets Browsealoud to continue reading the rest of the web page, after finishing the text you have selected.
