Changing Colours

If you find the standard text and background colours on your computer difficult to read, you can easily change them. We have provided some basic guidelines below.

For detailed instructions on how to change the colours on your computer visit AbilityNet's my computer, my way website

Windows

If you find some text and background colours difficult to read or you prefer certain colours, you can change to the colours in Windows quite simply.

For example if you could change the standard settings so that the toolbars and dialog boxes on your screen were in a high contrast white text on black background, with the main text being bright yellow on black for word documents and e-mails.

Browser Settings

When you change your settings in Windows the background and toolbars on your Internet browser should also change. For example white text on a black background. However some actual websites are designed so that the colours are not automatically changed. You can change this yourself so that all websites appear in your favourite colour scheme.
