PDA's (Handhelds)Personal Digital Assistants or PDA's, are small handheld computers. PDA's can be used as address books, calendars, notepads and let you access email and the internet - they can even be used to play music, games and video clips. You can usually connect your PDA to your PC to transfer information, for example updating a calendar. Standard PDA's are available from the BT Shop and may be useful for some disabled people. For example if you have difficulty remembering things you can use your PDA to give you reminders as well as making notes of things you need to do. People with mobility impairments who need access to email and the internet may also benefit from PDA's which are light and easy to carry round. PDA's are also available from some suppliers with note taking facilities and voice recognition, which you may find useful if you have a visual impairment or a learning disability such as dyslexia. Visit our Using computers and the Web section for details of specialist suppliers. Try AbilityNet's My Computer, My Way! website for further information about adapting your PC.
