Veronica Downey

Veronica from Gosforth, Newcastle, loves history, and it was this interest that encouraged her to first use the internet. A member of a history society which organises many excursions, Veronica was eager to get more out of her historical visits.

After investing in a package that included a computer, printer, scanner and digital camera, Veronica decided to attend classes at her local Age Concern centre to learn how to get the most out of her new equipment.

Having gained in confidence, Veronica uses her new found skills to research her historical days out before she goes. This gives her the chance to discover in advance the main points of interest. She also uses the digital camera that was included in the package on her excursions and loves being able to download the images to her PC - printing copies for herself, and emailing images to friends.

Veronica said, "I'm glad that I bought my computer.  I enjoy having access to so much information. Also, on television, if somebody refers to a web address after a programme, to get more information, I like the fact that I can do that if I wish. It's just good to know I have the option."
