Ann Perrett

Ann Perrett started loosing her hearing 30 years ago, resulting in a total loss of hearing in 2000 at the age of 64. Ann was determined to use technology to help her communicate in day to day life and to continue her voluntary work.

She started using Email in her role as secretary of her local Hearing Concern group and soon progressed to editing online newsletter for Carers Together.

Ann now also makes good use of other communication services like Instant Messenger which let her "talk" one-to-one via a window on her PC, with other people using the service, no matter whether in this country or abroad. She says "Replies follow almost immediately, back and forward. It is absolutely indispensable to me now, and indeed would be so, even with normal hearing - and its all FREE!"

Ann now calls her computer my "Magic machine", using it for writing, designing and communicating. She says "I really enjoy each new challenge. BT Broadband has now speeded everything up tremendously so - Three Cheers for the Internet!"
