Basil

Basil

Basil was born in Jamaica and moved to the UK with his family when he was very young. He has lived in Bristol for many years and now lives in residential care supported by the Brandon Trust (a charity providing services to adults with learning disabilities).

Basil is a beneficiary of the TATE project. To enable him to take an active role in the project he has been provided with a laptop computer. He has been supported to use the Internet to research his background and learn about Jamaica.

Basil knew that he had a brother still in Jamaica but his family had lost contact with him many years ago. However, when Basil typed his brother's name into Google it came up with a photo and a biography of his brother who now is an eminent doctor in Jamaica. Basil emailed him and since then they have exchanged emails on a regular basis.
