Michele

Michele and other members of the advisory group

Michele is a very independent young lady who lives on her own in a supported living environment in Weston-Super-Mare. Michele is supported for a few hours each week by The Brandon Trust (a provider of services to adults with a learning disability).

Through the TATE project Michele has been provided with a laptop. Michele attended a day's training where she was shown how to take photos using a digital camera and then to upload those photos to the TATE project website. This is very empowering for the service users who are involved in the project as they are able to share their photos on the Internet (on a controlled site) with family and friends.

At the training day Michele met another people from the TATE project. She became really friendly with Jo and they exchanged email addresses. Through their emails they discovered that they shared many interests and their friendship grew. More recently Michele travelled to the Wirral to stay with Jo for a weekend.

Michele is a member of the Advisory Group for the TATE project. The membership of this group is service users who are involved in the project. They advise the Management Board on such things as how they wish to receive communications and how they want to be involved in the project and give feedback on software and hardware developments to the developers. They produce a multimedia newsletter (with support) which informs everyone about their role and developments in the project.
