Suzannah

Suzannah enjoys writing about herself and her experiences. When she showed some pieces to a member of the support staff in the house she shares with two other people in Oxfordshire it was suggested that she create her own multimedia lifestory.

Her family were very supportive and supplied photos and information about Suzannah's childhood and these were all scanned in, together with Suzannah's own collection of photos. Then, using PowerPoint, the photos were organised to reflect various aspects of Suzannah's life such as her school days, holidays, family and friends, work experiences etc. Suzannah was involved with the whole project and she recorded her own descriptions and commentary.

Suzannah was asked to show her lifestory to HRH The Princess Royal (Patron of HFT) when she opened the HFT Karten CTEC Centre in January 2003. After her presentation she was interviewed by the local BBC news team and later the video clip from the news was incorporated into Suzannah's lifestory.

She was delighted with the result and was given several copies to send to relatives and family friends in many countries! In the accompanying letter Suzannah gave them her email address (she had recently learned to send emails quite independently!). Soon she received many emails with comments on her lifestory. She now communicates to a wide variety of people and they often send her photos which she has learned to print out and keep in a special folder.

Suzannah has been asked to show her lifestory at several conferences and this has increased her self-esteem and confidence. Her communication and ICT skills have also increased.
