The benefits of broadband for older and disabled peopleIt is now widely accepted that the Internet can give older and disabled people more chances to participate in society. We know that many groups such as those unable to leave their homes, people who have difficulty reading printed information and people with speech impairments, really value the Internet for keeping in touch. At BT we also understand that some people feel excluded from using the Internet because of age, ability or lack of money. Visit our Corporate Social Responsibility page for details of how we are supporting people in the use of digital technology. BT works directly with older and disabled people and their representatives to show how communications can improve the quality of peoples lives. We have put together some ideas about how broadband can be useful for older and disabled people as well as some case studies to show how broadband is helping some of our older and disabled customers. If you would like to try some of the things we mention but need additional support in using the Internet, visit our Using Computers and the Web section for details of organisations who offer support to older and disabled people wanting to get on-line.
