Instructions for installing broadband

We have written the following to give you an idea of what is required to set up broadband on your PC. Your broadband supplier will produce their own, in-depth instructions and these may vary from ours. When installing broadband onto your PC you should follow your supplier's advice.

  1. Check all items have been sent in your welcome pack
  2. Switch on your PC
  3. Once ready, insert the broadband CD ROM into computer's CD drive
  4. Follow on screen prompts
  5. Plug a microfilter in every telephone socket that will be used by other equipment e.g. telephone, fax etc.
If you require extra filters you can purchase them online from the BT shop
  6. The CD ROM will help specify the type of connection you require
  7. When told to do so, connect one end of the USB cable into the broadband modem socket and plug the other end into a USB socket on your computer.
  8. Plug your router into a microfilter connected to a phone socket
  9. Connect power supply to the router
  10. Once you have installed all the software you should restart your computer
  11. Once rebooted, your PC should be ready to connect to broadband.

If you have any problems and require further assistance contact your broadband supplier's helpdesk.
