The future

Our commitment to the ‘Am I Listening?’ campaign is long-term. We want to ensure that the entire UK is aware of the need to listen to the voices of its young people. Our ultimate goal is for all young people to be heard and for their concerns and suggestions to be acted upon by UK's adults. Why?

When all young people are heard, it will help resolve real social issues and make a major positive contribution to a better world. Our strategy for achieving this involves:

  • Helping ChildLine answer more calls by fundraising and sharing core skills and technical expertise
  • Making our campaign a catalyst for co-ordinated action with partners who share our goal and working with children and young people to get organisations and institutions listening
  • Planning more events and activities to raise awareness of the benefits of listening to children and young people
  • Creating projects which will demonstrate the benefits that arise when young voices are heard
  • Reviewing our own policies and procedures for communicating with young people
  • Continuing our programme of listening to UK's young population through research and consultation.

The campaign is a journey and we want to build on our learning experience. 2004's Big Listen, for instance, was even bigger and better than the previous year, with fundraising and awareness events throughout the week. We're looking forward to reaching our goals.
