BT's Big Listen

BT's second annual Big Listen week was held October 25-31. The week was filled with events and activities dedicated to ensuring that young voices across the UK are being heard and to raising vital funds for ChildLine. Events included:

  • Big breakfasts were held across the UK, giving young people the opportunity to talk with decision-makers and leaders about what matters to them
  • The Big bag pack brought community groups, societies and schools to their local retailers on October 30 to pack bags for customers and raise money for ChildLine
  • The Celebrity auction raised £12,000, with some of the UK's favourite personalities donating their time to give the lucky winning bidders events and memorabilia that money usually can't buy
  • Downloads: from quizzes and games to lesson plans!

Parents' Radio

BBC presenter Libby Purves guided a panel of experts through six different issues familiar to most parents with teenage children.

Children's Concert

Monday 25th October brought Blackheath a very special Children's Concert. Compered by CBeebies presenter Lorna Laidlaw, the event showcased local young talent – an excellent way to listen to young people and also a great fundraiser, with all proceeds going to ChildLine.

Local Democracy Week

2004's Local Democracy Week focused on young people; the Local Government Association encouraged councils and young people to get together and ‘Make Their Mark’.

BYC Lobbying Guide

The British Youth Council published the BYC Lobbying Guide to show young people how they can make their voices heard and effect positive change.
