Registration

How to register

1) From anywhere on the MyDonate website, click on the 'Log in / Register' button (found near the top right of the screen) and choose the 'Personal' tab. Click the 'Personal registration' tab.

2) Entering your details:

a) Enter your name, address, e-mail address and contact phone number.

b) Tick the box to confirm that you have read and agree to MyDonate's terms and conditions.

c) Enter a password - which must be a minimum of eight characters and contain at least one letter and one number. Please keep it safe for future use. Then enter a memorable word containing a minimum of eight letters - this will help us to identify you if we need to speak to you in the future. Please keep your username, password and memorable word in a safe place.

d) Click on 'Create personal account'.

e) You will see a page informing you that your personal account has been created and that an e-mail has been sent to you.

f) Your registration process is now complete, which means you will be able to begin raising money for charity as soon as you like.



Updating my account

If you need to make changes to anything you've told us previously, please follow the steps below.

1) Log into your MyDonate account and from your personal account home page, choose 'My details' from the left hand menu. Then click on 'Personal information'.

2) Make any changes and click on 'Update details'.

3)  You will see a confirmation screen informing you that your details have been updated.

If you've forgotten your password, you can quickly request a new one:

1) Click on the 'Log in / Register' tab, (found near the top right of the screen) then the 'Personal account' tab.

2) Click 'Forgotten your password?'

3) On the Password reset screen, make sure that the 'Password' box is selected, enter your e-mail address and then enter it again to confirm.  Type in the word verification (this is the two random words at the bottom of the screen which need to be added for security purposes ). If the word verification is difficult to understand, you can request alternative words by clicking on the symbol (Symbol) in the small box to the right.  Alternatively, you can obtain an audio challenge by clicking on the Audio  symbol.

4) You will see a 'Password reset' screen informing you that an email has been sent to you detailing next steps.

5) Click on the link in the e-mail you receive to reset your password (please do this within 24 hours of receiving it, otherwise you will have to request a new link).  You will be taken to a 'Change password' page. Enter a new password and then type it in again to confirm. Click on the 'Submit' button.

6) You will receive confirmation that your password has been updated. You can now log in with your new password.

To change your password:

1) Log in to your account.

2) From your account home page, click on 'My details' in the left-hand menu and then 'Change password'.

3) Enter your current password into the box.

4) Enter a new password which must be a minimum of 8 characters long and contain at least one letter and one number and then enter it again to confirm.

5) If you want to also change your memorable word at this point, just click on the 'Change memorable word' link, make your changes and click on 'Update details'. You can use your 'tab' buttons in your menu bar to get back to your 'Change password' page.

6) Click on 'Confirm'.

7) You will receive confirmation that your password has been updated. You can now log in with your new password.

If you do not wish to share your contact details (e-mail/postal address/phone number), with any future charities you donate to, please tick the box and click 'Update'. Which can be found on the left hand menu bar and click on the Unsubscribe Contact Details

From this point onwards, we will not pass your details onto any charities you support, unless you select to share your details again

Please note: If you have previously shared your details with any charities through our website and you no longer wish to be contacted by them, please contact the charity directly and ask for your details to be removed from their records.

Click on the managed payment methods button on the left hand menu bar. This will show you all the cards you have registered. Click on the card you want to change details or remove from the site. Follow the instructions and then click on continue.



Donations

Log in to your account and follow the steps below to make a donation to a charity:

1) Click on 'Donate to charity'.

2) Search for your charity by entering a name or keyword and tick the box if you wish to also search descriptions. Hit the 'enter' button or click on 'Search now'.

3) If your chosen charity name pops up, click 'Donate now' in the charity's box. If you receive a message that no matches were found, it may be because your chosen charity has not joined us yet. You can view 'the charity index' to see a full list of the charities that are registered with MyDonate.

4) Click on one of the buttons to specify your donation amount or insert your own amount (minimum donation is £2.00) in the 'Other' box.

5)  Select the relevant Gift Aid button (if you are a UK tax payer, Gift Aid increases the value of donations to charities by allowing them to reclaim basic rate tax on your donation – this doesn't cost you anything but it does give the charity an additional 25p for every £1 donated).

6) In the 'Card owner details' section enter your email address.

7) If you have registered previously, your email address will be recognised and you will be invited to log in. Logging In will retrieve your details and pre-populate the remaining name / address fields. Alternatively you can continue and manually enter your details.

8)  Tick the box if you are happy to be contacted by the charities you donate to.

9) Your donation amount will be displayed at the bottom of the screen.

10) Click on 'Next step' and the payment screen will pop up.

11) If you are a registered user - Choose a card (payment card names will be displayed if you already have card details stored in the system and you will only need to enter your 3-digit code found on the back of the card) or click on 'New card' and fill in the details if you want to use an alternative card. If you want to save your new card (this will keep you from having to fill in all the details again in the future), just give it a name and when you're ready, click on 'Pay now'.

If you haven't registered yet - select your card type and enter the details and when you're ready, click on 'Pay Now'.

If your card uses Verified by Visa or Mastercard Secure Code, you will be asked for the appropriate security information.

12) You will see a screen containing a summary of your donation.

If you are a registered user - you can click on 'My account' in the top right of your screen to return to your account homepage or click on 'Logout'.

If you haven't registered yet - click on 'Register Now' to make it easier to donate next time.

13) This will take you to the 'Personal Registration Page' where your name, address and email address will be populated, all you need to do is enter a password - which must be a minimum of eight characters and contain at least one letter and one number. Please keep it safe for future use. Then enter a memorable word containing a minimum of eight letters - this will help us to identify you if we need to speak to you in the future. Please keep your username, password and memorable word in a safe place.

14) You will also receive a confirmation e-mail thanking you for your donation.

1) Making a regular monthly recurring donation is only available to a registered user. Log in to your MyDonate account. If you are not yet registered on MyDonate, you will need to do this first (please see 'How to register).

2) Click on 'Donate to charity'.

3) Search for your charity by entering a name or keyword and tick the box if you wish to also search descriptions. Hit the 'enter' button or click on 'Search now'.

4) If your chosen charity name appears, click 'Donate now' in the charity's box. If you receive a message that no matches were found, it may be because your chosen charity has not joined us yet. You can view 'the charity index' to see a full list of the charities that are registered with MyDonate.

5)  Select 'regular' from the drop-down box and click on one of the buttons to specify your donation amount or insert your own amount (minimum donation is £2.00) in the 'Other' box.  Please note: Your first payment will be taken on the day you set up your recurring monthly donation.  All future payments will be taken monthly, from the date you specify.

6)  Select the relevant Gift Aid button (if you are a UK tax payer, Gift Aid increases the value of donations to charities by allowing them to reclaim basic rate tax on your donation – this doesn't cost you anything).

7) The 'Card owner details' section will already be populated with your name and address details so you won't need to add these again unless the payment card you are using belongs to someone else, in which case, their details will need to be added.

8) Tick the box if you are happy to be contacted by the charities you donate to.

9)  Your donation amount will be displayed at the bottom of the screen.

10) Click on 'Next step' and the payment screen will pop up.

11) Choose a card (payment card names will be displayed if you already have card details stored with MyDonate and you will only need to enter your 3-digit code found on the back of your card) or click on 'New card' and fill in the details if you want to use an alternative card.  If you want to save your new card (saving you time if you want to use this card again in the future), just give it a name and when you're ready, click on 'Pay now'.  Note: You can save up to 5 cards on MyDonate.

12) You will see a screen containing a summary of your donation. You can click on 'My account' in the top right of your screen to return to your account homepage or click on 'Logout'.

13) You will also receive a confirmation e-mail containing details of the donation you have just made, along with details of future monthly recurring donations

1)  Log in to your MyDonate account.

2)  From your homepage, click on 'My donations' in the left-hand menu.

3)  Click on 'Monthly donations'.

4)  You will see a list of any current and recently cancelled monthly donations.

5)  Click on 'Edit' next to the payment you would like to change.

6)  Change your payment date details, Gift Aid status, card payment details and click on 'Update donation'.

7)  You will receive a confirmation e-mail informing you that your regular monthly recurring donation has been changed.

1) Log in to your MyDonate account.

2) From your homepage, click on 'My donations' in the left-hand menu.

3) Click on 'Monthly donations'.

4) You will see a list of any current and recently cancelled monthly donations.

5) Click on 'Edit' next to the payment you would like to cancel.

6) Click on 'Cancel donation'. You will be prompted with 'Are you sure you want to cancel this monthly donation?'

7) If you click on ‘Yes', you will receive a confirmation e-mail informing you that your regular monthly recurring donation has been cancelled and also the date that the last payment will be made.

Follow the steps below to sponsor a fundraiser.

1) You can either sponsor anonymously or you can let your friend know it is you. If you wish to be known, then you will need to register with MyDonate, so please follow the Register tab in the top right of the screen. If you are already a member of MyDonate, enter your e-mail address and password to log in. If you are not a member, click on the 'Register' tab - see the instructions for 'Registration' above if you need further help.

2) Click on 'Sponsor a fundraiser'.

3) You will see a list of 'popular fundraisers' listed in the 'Search for a fundraiser' box, enter the name of the person who is fundraising  You can also tick the box to search for an exact phrase. Click 'Search now'.

4) If your search returns no matches, then your fundraiser may not have joined MyDonate yet. If the event you are searching for pops up, click on 'Select fundraiser' (to read a bit more information about the fundraiser/event) or 'Donate now' to make a payment.

5) Click on one of the buttons to specify your single donation amount or insert your own amount (minimum donation of £2.00), in the 'Other' box.

6) The 'My details' section below will already be populated with your name and address details,  if you  have registered or logged in, so you won't need to add these again, otherwise you will have to enter your name and address.

7) Add a message to the fundraiser if you want to.

8) Tick the box if you are happy to be contacted by any charity you donate to on MyDonate.

9) Click on 'Next step' and the payment screen will pop up.

10) Either 'Select stored card' if you have already stored your card details into the system or fill in the details to use a new card.

11) Enter your three digit security code from the back of your card, press 'Pay now'.

12) On the next screen, enter your SecureCode and click 'Submit'.

That's it! You will see a screen containing a summary of your donation. You will also receive an e-mail thanking you for your donation.

To sponsor a fundraiser anonymously, you don't need to be registered with MyDonate. Just follow the steps below.

1) Click on 'Sponsor a fundraiser'.

2) You will see a list of 'popular fundraisers' listed. In the 'Search for a fundraiser' box, enter a name or keyword. You can also tick the box to search for an exact phrase. Click 'Search now'.

3) If the event you are searching for pops up, click on 'Select fundraiser' (to read a bit more information about the fundraiser/event) or click 'Donate now' to make a payment. If your search returns no matches, then your fundraiser may not have joined MyDonate yet.

4) Click on the 'I'm not registered' tab and click continue.

5) Click on one of the buttons to specify your single donation amount or insert your own amount (minimum donation of £2.00) in the 'Other' box.

6) Complete the 'Card owner details' section by entering your name, e-mail address and postal address of where the payment card you will be using is registered to. Whilst these details are required by us, they will not be shared with the charity(s).

7) Your donation amount will be displayed at the bottom of the screen.

9) Click on 'Next step' and the payment screen will pop up.

10) Enter your payment card details and click on 'Pay now'.

11) You will see a screen containing a summary of your donation. You can now close your browser.

12) You will also receive a confirmation e-mail thanking you for your donation.



Payment options

MyDonate is an online fundraising service and you can donate by credit/debit card using the following:

  • Visa
  • Electron
  • Visa debit/delta
  • Mastercard 
  • Maestro
  • Switch
  • Solo

Credit/debit card statements for the payment card details you gave us will show any transactions made. They will appear under the heading of 'MyDonate'. If you're concerned that a payment has been made incorrectly, or if there is something unfamiliar connected to MyDonate on your statement, please contact your card provider as soon as possible.

All donations made using MyDonate will be passed through to your chosen charity on a weekly basis, so to reclaim any donation you will need to contact your charity direct. Their contact details may be available on their MyDonate charity pages.
