Forget Romeo, this Juliet is simply amazing

To her friends she’s a tour de force. To the domestic violence charity Women’s Aid, she’s one of their ‘hero’ fundraisers. And to anyone who knows her story, she is simply amazing.

Juliet McDermott has run a marathon every month for the last three years raising money for Women’s Aid and other charities. She is nothing short of remarkable. This breathtaking run of marathons was only interrupted when Juliet suffered an injury which meant total rest for at least a month.

“I’ve been running all my life,” said Juliet. “Not being able to train is driving me up the wall.”

Despite this, she’s still planning events for the coming year and hopes to start training again in the summer. And the diary’s already looking pretty full.

In June, she’s running the Crisis Square Mile Run which raises money to combat homelessness. In October she’s taking part in the Shine night-time marathon walk on behalf of Cancer Research UK. And in December she’s taking part in the Las Vegas Marathon which is run at night and where competitors all dress as Elvis Presley.

And that’s not to mention the star-studded benefit reception for 60 people she’s organising in the autumn.

And now that MyDonate is up and running, Juliet says she’ll use it from now on to help her with her fundraising.

“I love the fact that with MyDonate, everything goes to charity,” said Juliet. “I know other fundraising sites do charge – and it may only be a small portion – but it’s good to know that every single penny you raise is going to charity.”
