BBC Children in Need is back and asking Britain to get baking
Stars from across TV and radio are getting ready to take part in a celebrity baking contest for BBC Children in Need.
Sir Terry Wogan, Fearne Cotton, Nick Grimshaw, Tess Daly, Matt Baker and Alex Jones are joining forces to encourage the nation to become baking heroes.
Each BBC Children in Need celebrity friend will champion one of the nation’s six favourite cakes - Fruit Cake, Lemon Drizzle Cake, Carrot Cake, Chocolate Cake, Victoria Sponge and Battenberg. The cakes were chosen following a survey carried out by BBC Children in Need.
The celebrities will ask the public to get behind their team and hold a bake sale with their chosen cake - and it’s all to support the 2014 Appeal.
Once again, BT will be supporting the BBC Children in Need appeal with gusto. This includes organising and supporting employee fundraising initiatives, providing call centre volunteers for the BBC Children in Need telethon on Friday November 14th and making sure the charity benefits from BT’s MyDonate for Telethons capability.
David Ramsden, chief executive of BBC Children in Need, says: “There are thousands of children and young people right here in the UK who urgently need our help and we can only be there for them thanks to the incredible generosity, imagination and commitment of our supporters.”
He adds: “This year we hope that everyone will have fun and raise money that really will change the lives of disadvantaged children and young people by baking or doing lots of other amazing things!”
The official fundraising pack is available for download now from bbc.co.uk/Pudsey and is jam packed with baking ideas to help the public with their fundraising efforts, plus lots of exclusive content from the celebrity team leaders.
To date the great British public has raised more than £740 million for children and young people across the UK and the charity is calling on people to once again pull out the stops and start baking to help raise money to change young lives.
