Putting Crohn's disease in the frame

Rachel Gilbey

Rachel Gilbey is on a mission to shine the spotlight on Crohn's disease.

By modelling for a series of ‘bold and beautiful photographs’, taken by friend and professional photographer Megan Milburn, Rachel has been turning heads and raising funds for Crohn's and Colitis UK.

Crohn's disease is a chronic condition whereby the body's immune system begins attacking healthy cells in the gastrointestinal tract, causing inflammation. For sufferers like Rachel, one of an estimated 40,000 people in the UK affected, it can mean abdominal pain, fever and abscesses.

Shining the spotlight

“Knowing that my work is catching the eye of the public to raise donations for the campaign is a pretty fantastic feeling.” Megan Milburn, professional photographer

The inspiring ‘Bold and Beautiful’ campaign has raised more than £1,100 – funds that will help Crohn's and Colitis UK provide information and support for those affected, fund research into possible causes and help to break down taboos about bowel conditions.

Megan chose to use MyDonate as 100 per cent of funds raised go charity. She said: “On comparison websites ‘Which?’ and ‘MoneySupermarket’ it had great reviews, with Which? magazine putting MyDonate at top as it gives the most money to the charity.”
