Dodgeball - hits the fun button for fundraising!
Some fantastic creative thinking by a fundraising team has tapped into the themes of fun and sport in a one-day Dodgeball tournament to smash the fundraising target of £10,000. In a year dominated by the London 2012 Olympic Games, perhaps this is a winning combination for other charities too?
Like the very best ideas, Dodgeball is simple – multiple teams of six players tried to eliminate their opponents by striking each other with thrown balls or catching balls thrown by players on the other team to return fire. Action Against Cancer Teams dressed up in crazy fancy dress outfits, with the Jammie Dodgers being crowned eventual winners. Organisers added to the money raised online with an auction and raffle.
Clare Stevenson one of the four organisers, said: “We chose to run a Dodgeball event because it was fast-paced and fun. Everyone got involved, there were no complicated rules to learn and it was perfect for all ages. We are absolutely delighted to have beaten our target of £10,000. Thanks to everyone who took part in the event and supported us online through MyDonate.”
