Fire engine 'pull-athon' helps ChildLine

Fire engine ‘pull-athon’ helps ChildLineVolunteer fire crew based at BT’s Adastral Park research centre in Suffolk raised more than £2,000 for charity by pulling an eight ton fire engine 25km.

The money was raised for ChildLine, which is celebrating its 25th birthday this year. To mark the event, the team from BT decided to pull the fire engine one kilometre for each of ChildLine’s 25 years.

The marathon pull-athon was followed by a “music in the park” event headlined by an ABBA tribute band. Hundreds of people turned up for the gig, which also helped to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

Adastral Park location manager Terry Henshall said both events were run to support of BT’s UK Charity Challenge. ”We’re delighted to help both charities and to do something slightly different to our usual annual event.”

“The fire team signed up to BT’s MyDonate website to ensure every single penny they raise from goes straight to ChildLine,” she said.
