Charity seeks support for life-saving baby medical treatment
A charity is appealing for donations to help a two month old baby girl from the Ukraine who requires urgent medical attention.
Ilana Ruslanivny is currently in hospital in Mukachevo where she is being treated for a number of life-threatening conditions including hypoxic and toxic encephalopathy.
However, her home-town doctors say they do not have the resources to save her life. She remains in a critical condition aided by respiratory life support.
Evolve, a charity that supports communities including various projects in Eastern Europe, has stepped in to help raise funds so that Ilana can be transported to a hospital in Vienna where specialist teams will be able to provide the care and treatment that Ilana desperately needs.
Evolve, set up in 2012 with a mission ‘to help communities to help themselves’, has launched an appeal using MyDonate to raise necessary funds for Illana.
Jason Bennett from the charity explains: “When asked to help a helpless baby like Ilana, it was a simple decision to say yes. We are trying to promote her cause all we can. Evolve first used MyDonate last year, when we had our first fundraising event Coast to the Coast - a 130 mile bike ride from North London to Ipswich.”
“This was supported by eight riders, who together raised more than £7,000. We are hoping our appeal for baby Ilana in the Ukraine is even more successful.”
