Make a bigger difference in 2016 with BT MyDonate
Whether you’re a charity or fundraiser, when it comes to choosing a fundraising service your decision is crucial. It makes a huge difference to how much your charity receives.
But with so many platforms to pick from, how do you decide? One of the major hurdles to overcome is understanding the fees. This is where MyDonate makes it easy.
MyDonate doesn’t charge commission
Unlike other online giving platforms, BT MyDonate’s fundraising service doesn’t take commission. It’s totally free to set up and there’s no big monthly fee for charities either.
These savings all add up when you’re trying to raise much needed cash for a good cause. The only charges you’ll see are standard card charges. This is a standard 15p flat-rate fee for a debit card transaction, or a 1.3 per cent credit card charge. Beyond that, every penny donated goes straight to charity as well as the full 25 per cent Gift Aid.
The average donation through MyDonate is £50 and because we don’t charge commission this means an extra £2.63 more per £50 donation goes to the charity compared with other online fundraising services.
Case study: SThree and SOS Children
Let’s look at a real life example. British-based recruitment company SThree’s five-year partnership with SOS Children, has supported 80 orphans and abandoned youngsters in Zambia. This included contribution to the development of a new SOS Children’s Village in Chipata, Zambia – one of the world’s most deprived and disease-hit areas – and building the ‘SThree House’ in Chipata.
To keep this impressive work going, SThree committed to raising half a million pounds for the charity in a variety of ways, including marathon running, charity events and dress-down days – matching all funds raised by their employees.
SThree chose to use BT MyDonate because it’s commission and fee-free. If £500,000 is raised through BT MyDonate, there is the potential for the charity to get an extra £25,000 when compared with similar services. And that goes a long way in Zambia.
SOS Children’s Villages discuss giving with MyDonate versus other donation platforms on their website and make this statement:
“We feel that if you would like to raise money online for SOS Children, the best way to do it is through BT MyDonate.
This way, more money reaches the children we support, while your fundraising efforts go further.”
Making a bigger difference
Some of the most inspirational MyDonate fundraisers have used the huge range of free services on offer to make a bigger difference to their chosen causes.
Just take a look at fundraiser Ruth McPherson, who raised more than £10,000 with MyDonate for Autoimmune Alopecia Research UK and saved around £500 on commission fees.
“The fact I could raise money for two worthwhile and personally meaningful charities meant that a lot of stress was saved,” says Tom. “Using MyDonate couldn't have been any easier. I simply used the search feature to find my chosen charities, and set up the page within 15 minutes.”
So why not join the 8,900 charities and the 30,000 fundraisers who choose to use MyDonate each year as their donation platform and make a bigger difference in 2016.
