Revisiting Moldova: back to school for TEECH restoration project

TEECH (Telecommunications Eastern European Challenge)Following the success of last summer’s ‘Mission to Moldova’, volunteers from TEECH (Telecommunications Eastern European Challenge) are busy preparing for their return this August.

Equipped with tools, construction equipment and aid, the team will be visiting a school in Zberoaia, a small village bordering Romania.

Once onsite, the team of volunteers, tradesmen and drivers will have just seven days to transform a derelict classroom into two bathrooms, creating separate facilities for the boys and girls.

Working round the clock, the volunteers will be revamping the structure and installing basic sanitary equipment. This will include toilets, sinks, urinals, showers and water heaters.

Established in 1998, TEECH’s vision is to improve the lives of those in Eastern Europe, who by no fault of their own are living in conditions not seen in Western Europe since before the war. TEECH has been using MyDonate for a couple of years to support its fundraising. The charity describes the website as ‘very user-friendly’.

Holly Field, secretary at TEECH, said: “It’s great that there are no charges for the service and the reporting requirements allow the charity to monitor all donations and thank those generously giving to our cause.”

The project is still open for volunteers so if you are interested in joining the team, please contact holly@teech.org or see the website www.teech.org for further details.
