BT MyDonate proudly supports Sport Relief

Sport Relief call centre

Over the weekend across the UK you’ve been running, swimming and cycling yourself proud for Sport Relief. And the totaliser on Friday’s show revealed a record breaking £55,444,906 has been raised to help disadvantaged people in the UK and Africa.

Comic Relief’s latest fundraising appeal saw the great British public give generously during the star-studded sport themed telethon – contributing to a total of £1 billion raised over the last 30 years.

All the funds raised from Sport Relief 2016 will go to projects at home and abroad that really do change people’s lives.

Inspiring people around the country

Families up and down the country have taken part in Sport Relief running, swimming and cycling Sport Relief miles to raise money and awareness for Comic Relief.

BT Celebrity Challenges have become a mainstay of Sport Relief – raising vital funds, and inspiring people around the country to get involved.

This year Jo Brand took on her Hell of a Walk, covering 150 miles coast-to-coast and taking on 70mph winds and horizontal rain inspiring other fundraisers across the country and raising a staggering £1,159,220

A long running partnership

But Jo’s isn’t the only long journey. BT has supported Comic Relief since its day one in 1985 and MyDonate provides the technology that makes appeal nights like Friday possible.

Proud partners

Alice Hunt, head of BT MyDonate, said: Telethons are such an amazing way to unite everyone to raise money. The volunteers taking calls are always overwhelmed by the generosity of the public. It really is a fantastic atmosphere and raises such staggering amounts to make a difference to those in need both in the UK and abroad.

BT volunteers were on hand at the iconic BT Tower and call centres around the country to take donations throughout Friday night’s show. And BT’s employees weren’t just taking donations – they also raised money themselves, with employees walking to the moon as part of a company wide fundraising activity with the show revealing the amount raised by BT employees so far as an awesome £520,331

Alice said “We’re incredibly proud to be a founding partner with Comic Relief and Sport Relief. The support we provide through our fundraising platform, network, and volunteers helps Sport Relief make a real difference.”

There’s still time to send in the funds you’ve raised – or to make a donation yourself. You can give directly to Sport Relief on BT MyDonate.
