Help 'supercharge' the Paralympics

Paralympics athlete

With the dust just settling on the Olympics, it’s time to shift our focus and start gearing up for the Rio 2016 Paralympics, that begin on Wednesday 7 September. This year, there’s a campaign to get the public involved and do their bit to support the athletes. The campaign is looking for the public to help #Supercharge the ParalympicsGB team in order to enable the team to operate at its maximum potential. And this is where you come in. Your help will be crucial and will make a huge difference to current and future athletes. Start fundraising through BT MyDonate.

We at BT have been proud partners of the British Paralympic Association (BPA) since 2008 and are delighted to be supporting them on their Road to Rio. As well as helping raise the profile of disability charities, the Paralympics have a longstanding legacy that helps to inspire young people with disabilities to get involved in sporting activities.

Since the 2012 Olympic Games, there has been a rise in disability awareness especially in the workplace. Former paralympians have also helped to pass the torch onto the next generation. For example, Jane Sowerby and Tim Farr who both represented Great Britain on the British Ski Team in the 2010 Vancouver Winter Paralympics went on to set up Access Adventures, a charity that encourages people with disabilities to try adventure sports.

Funds raised for the 2016 Paralympics will help make the team as strong as possible ahead of Rio 2016 and help raise awareness, as well as inspire the nation, challenge perceptions and help pave the way and create a better world for disabled people.

Find out how you can help Supercharge the ParalympicsGB team as they prepare for competition on the world’s biggest stage.
