Shortlist for Technology4Good awards announced
The shortlist for this year's Technology4Good (T4G) Awards has been announced with 26 finalists whittled down from more than 200 nominations.
Organised by AbilityNet and BT, the T4G Awards recognise the work of charities and businesses that use computers and the internet to improve communities.
Although there is no cash prize for those selected by the judges, last year’s winners of the Accessibility Award – child hospice charity Lifelites - reported an increase of nearly £100,000 in money raised.
The Awards are also good publicity. As a direct result of their success in the T4G Awards, awards sponsor Microsoft picked Lifelites to take over the home page of its Bing search engine for a day.
The results of the judge's deliberations will be announced on Friday 6th July 2012 at an Awards Ceremony at the BT Centre in London. The finalists in the digital fundraising award category can be found at www.technology4goodawards.org.uk .
AbilityNet – which uses MyDonate for its online fundraising – is a UK charity that uses technology to help disabled and elderly people makes the most of their lives.
