What does the future look like for corporate giving?
And which of these is more valuable: a corporate volunteer’s time, or a financial donation from a business?
These were some of the big questions addressed at the recent Giving Debate organised by Third Sector and MyDonate.
The event attracted a broad range of representatives from businesses and charities as well as a stellar panel of experts.
The panel included Justin Davis Smith from the National Council for Volunteering Organisations (NCVO), Anne Heal from BT, Simon Redfern from Starbucks and Sue O’Lone, from medical research charity JDRF.
One key message from the debate was that more and more companies are recognising the wider business benefits of corporate giving and this is encouraging them to forge innovative relationships with charities.
“There are currently a lot of exciting partnerships being developed, both in terms of money and the offering of time,” said Justin Davis Smith. “For the corporate, volunteering offers a lot of benefits to its staff and is good value for money.”
