A one-of-a-kind charity street party - #JoinIn

 street party

If you haven’t heard of The Patron’s Lunch and The Patron’s Fund yet, you soon will. The lunch, taking place on the 12th June is set to be an incredible, iconic event with 10,000 guests gathering on The Mall outside Buckingham Palace for a street party as never seen before– and BT MyDonate is the donation and fundraising partner behind this fantastic occasion.

The Patron’s Lunch is the finale to a national weekend of celebration to mark The Queen’s official 90th birthday – and the only event to ever recognise and celebrate her patronage of over 600 charities and organisations across the UK and Commonwealth. It will be the largest ever to be held on The Mall.

The majority of guests on the day will be representatives from the 600 organisations that hold The Queen’s patronage, which include over 350 charities ranging from regional and local charities like the Highland Cattle Society or the Seashell Trust to national charities like Cancer Research UK and RNLI. Whilst celebrating the scope and diversity of these organisations the event will also raise funds for a specially created charity - The Patron’s Fund. This charity has been founded to provide grants to the charities to which The Queen acts as patron thereby helping to further support the legacy of her patronage.

Peter Phillips, Chairman of The Patron’s Lunch Events Ltd said: ‘The three core themes of The Patron’s Lunch are community, celebration and charity, and BT MyDonate are providing fantastic support to help us achieve our goals. As well as raising money for The Patron’s Fund through our own BT MyDonate fundraising page and text donate mechanic, we are also encouraging the Patron’s Organisations to use the MyDonate platform for their own Patron’s Lunch fundraising activity. Furthermore, we are hoping to inspire people to look to their own communities and support local causes that need their help, be it through donating funds, or volunteering their time.’

The Patron’s Lunch has already inspired villages, cities and towns across the UK and Commonwealth to dust off their picnic tables and hold their own street parties and lunches, with lots of events already planned. It’s an excellent opportunity for people to raise funds for The Patron’s Fund and support local initiatives and community programmes.

The event will include an incredible parade inspired by the organisations and their wide scope, all with a carnival feel. You will be able to soak up the festival-themed atmosphere and see the official proceedings from The Mall with a number of large screens placed in the Royal Parks, Green Park and St James’s Park as well as see all the action live on the BBC, making sure everyone can join in with the day’s festivities.
