David's done it!

All smiles for David after completing his epic 140-mile swim along the River ThamesComedian David Walliams has raised almost £1.2m thanks to his epic 140 miles swim down the river Thames.

David – who was exhausted after his eight-day ordeal – was greeted by well-wishers and a large crowd at Westminster Bridge as he completed his punishing swim.

At the time of writing, he had raised £1,194,258 as part of his BT Sport Relief Challenge – Walliams vs The Thames.

Due to the unseasonally cold conditions, strong tides and the contraction of ‘Thames Tummy’, there were concerns at one point that David might not be able to complete the challenge.

But he did – and even managed to save a dog that had fallen into the river.

Please help BT to raise £1 million for this year’s Sport Relief campaign and help change lives.

Warning: Do not try this yourself. The tidal Thames is incredibly dangerous and many people, including strong swimmers, have drowned in its waters which have powerful tides and unpredictable currents.
