World's Biggest Coffee Morning causes major stir

Macmillan Cancer Support’s flagship fundraising event – the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning – returned this year on Friday 25th September.

And to celebrate the 25th anniversary of its coffee morning event Macmillan is hoping to beat last year’s final figure of £25 million for people affected by cancer.

For 2015 the charity had more than 225,000 people register to hold a coffee morning.

Says Claire Driscoll, national events marketing manager at Macmillan Cancer Support: “We calculated this would mean that on the day nobody would be more than half a mile away from a coffee morning event. It certainly felt like the entire country was getting involved.”

The fundraising total currently stands at over £9.1million* and the charity expects to see this continue rising over the next couple of months as coffee morning hosts pay their money in.
