Get geared up for Children in Need
With less than two weeks to go until the BBC Children In Need appeal returns on Friday 13 November, there's no time like the present to start your fundraising.
The charity has provided bundles of fundraising ideas and inspiration, from unleashing your inner superhero to rambling in the great outdoors. Here we’ll give you a rundown of some of the ways you can raise some serious cash and make a real difference to the lives of children across the UK.
Soar as a superhero
Get together with friends, family or workmates and play dress up for the day. Become your favourite superhero or perhaps that much-loved character from a TV show that defined your childhood years. Whatever you do, fancy dress is the name of the game and the possibilities are endless.
Fundraising is a piece of cake
Indulge your friends, family or workmates with some tasty treats to brighten up their day, sweeten elevenses or liven up afternoon tea. Call on whoever’s willing to help, whip up your best creations (or pop to the shops and buy some, it all counts) and watch your goodies sell like hot cakes.
What’s your final answer?
Invite everyone to release their competitive spirit and play the ready-made BBC Children in Need quiz, A Question of Sport for Pudsey. Form teams, pick a quizmaster and remember to fine anyone caught cheating on their phones with an extra donation!
For inspiration, watch the A Question of Sportspecial broadcast on 4 November at 10:35pm or on 6 November at 7:30pm on BBC One
Get ready to ramble
Arrange a ‘pay to participate’ event and organise an outside walk. Decide whether to head to the hills or take a stroll in the park, then lace up your walking boots and enjoy some fresh air with friends and family.
Put on your ears
Strapped for time but want to join in? Show your support and put on your ears! Get yours from the Post Office, Boots, Greggs, Asda and from the BBC Children in need online shop.
There’s even Pudsey ears for dogs, so no-one misses out, not even your pet.
Tell us what you’re doing for Children in Need
BT is a longstanding supporter of the annual fundraiser and has worked with BBC Children in Need for more than 30 years.
MyDonate is the fundraising partner for Children in Need because it maximises the money the charity receives through avoiding any commission fees.
On the night, BT MyDonate will once again be on hand to make sure everything runs smoothly providing the platform behind the telethon that volunteers up and down the country help man.
Alice Hunt, head of BT MyDonate says: “We’re so proud to be the fundraising platform for Children in Need as well as the technology behind the telethon on the night. I’m already planning a Pudsey bake sale or two myself!”
