First Olympic Games fibres installed in Olympic Park

First Olympic Games fibres installed in Olympic ParkThe Openreach Olympic and Paralympic Games operational delivery team passed a significant milestone in autumn 2010 when the first fibre cables were installed in the Olympic Park.

It’s just the beginning of a massive project that will see Openreach installing 14,400 copper pairs and over 5,000 fibres into the Olympic Park and Stratford City development sites for use in the Games and beyond.

The Olympic Park in Stratford, East London, will host numerous Olympic and Paralympic sports venues as well as acting as the main press centre and international broadcast centre.

The nearby Stratford City development site will be home to the Athletes' Village with 2,818 new apartments connected by fibre-to-the-premise.
