With less than six months to go to the start of London 2012 BT is ready for the Games.
Not only has BT installed the communications services for 35 venues already, Openreach has just completed the fibre network in the Athletes’ Village.
This will serve 2,818 flats - providing the athletes and coaches staying there with free BT Infinity super-fast broadband throughout the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
In total, more than 250km of copper cable and fibre tubing have been installed - as well as over 100km of fibre.
Oscar Pistorius, Paralympic champion and BT Ambassador, said: “I spend a lot of time away from home training and competing, so being able to stay in touch with my coach - who can't always travel with me - is vital to my preparations before a big race.
"Thanks to BT, I won't have to worry about how I'm going to arrange to get broadband, I'll be able to focus on what I'm there to do - to win gold.”
