  Financial review: Group operating profit (loss)

In the 2002 financial year, group operating profit from continuing activities before goodwill amortisation and the exceptional items, in the following link, of £2,771 million was 10% lower than in the 2001 financial year, which in turn was 10% lower than in the 2000 financial year.

Total group operating loss for the 2002 financial year was £479 million compared to a profit of £27 million in the 2001 financial year and £3,572 million in the 2000 financial year.
