Openreach
Openreach is responsible for the crucial
first mile of the network in the UK. It was set up in January 2006,
following a strategic review of the telecommunications market by Ofcom, to offer
all communications providers including other BT lines of business
fair, equal and open access to our access and backhaul networks, in order to
underpin the future development of the industry.
Revenue
in 2008 grew by 1% to £5,266 million, driven by external volume growth
across Openreachs portfolio of products and services.
