Operating profit
In 2008, operating profit before
specific items was £2,895
million (2007: £2,713 million, 2006: £2,633 million), 7% higher
than 2007, which in turn was 3% higher than 2006. The increase in the
current year reflects the revenue growth of the business and the additional
other operating income generated in the year.
