Our campaigns and charitable partnerships aim to inspire people and communities to make a better world through the power of communication skills and technology. We form key strategic partnerships with charities where our expertise in communications can make a real difference above and beyond just fundraising.
In 2008 that investment was £22.3million; made up of direct funding and support in kind. Many of our activities are particularly focused on helping young people across the globe.
The BT Better World Campaign helps young people develop the communications skills they need to succeed in life. It includes a partnership with UNICEF, called Inspiring young minds, to bring education, ICT and communication skills to thousands of disadvantaged children in Brazil, China and South Africa. Over one third of BT people are involved with CSR related activity
This year we raised £650,000 for ChildLine, our company charity. We also raised money for There4Me, an online counselling service for UK children and our Inspiring Young Minds project. We helped DEC, Sport Relief and Children in Need run telethons which raised over £70 million in total.
In the UK, BT supports the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) – an umbrella organisation of thirteen UK-based charities, including the British Red Cross and Oxfam. In June 2007, we announced a three-year partnership with the British Red Cross to support disaster relief worldwide. We are investing £100,000 a year to provide essential ICT equipment to support their work.
BT Better World Campaign BT's Better World Campaign aims to give all young people a voice, by providing a variety of resources for young people, teachers and parents to use and platforms for young people to get their voices heard.
