Votorantim will use Alcatel-Lucent's telephony solution for its offices around the world

French-US telecoms company Alcatel-Lucent has announced that Votorantim, one of Latin America’s largest industrial conglomerates, has selected its hybrid telephony solution for five company sites in Brazil and its offices around the world.

Votorantim will use this system in 68 sites in Brazil for Votorantim Metals, Agribusiness, Pulp and Paper, Cement and international businesses.

Around the world, offices in Peru, Colombia, China and the US will adopt the Alcatel-Lucent solution.

With this contract, Alcatel-Lucent says around 5,000 users will benefit from the new OmniPCX Enterprise telephony solution and the OmniVista management platform.

In addition to Votorantim’s new telephony solution, Alcatel-Lucent says it will also provide project management, consulting, network design, application integration, network operations and maintenance.

Votorantim general IT manager João Donizeti said: “Votorantim has a huge national network and now we will be able to use it more strategically to support our businesses across the country. The network has met all our goals for cost reduction and for providing better voice quality and easy-to-use applications.”

Alcatel-Lucent president of American activities Cindy Christy said: “The OmniPCX Enterprise is successful because it meets our clients’ demands for a telephony solution that fits with their needs today but can migrate to advanced phone services.”
