Mobile marketing in Scandinavia

Building customer relationships through mobile technology

Norwegian operator Telenor has launched a new mobile marketing company that it says will help businesses and organisations strengthen customer relations through the use of mobile communications.

Called More Mobile Relations, the new company has been established through Telenor’s acquisitions of Active Loop Marketing in Norway and N'volve in Denmark. Telenor says it also plans to extend the operation into Sweden.

It says More Mobile Relations will help companies and organisations to evolve from using mass communications into building relations directly with their customers through mobile technology, on the users' terms.

For instance, Telenor explains, customers will receive a text message when a package has arrived at the post office, or receive information about the ski resort they are visiting via Bluetooth, or be invited to join the fan club of their local football team.

Christian Ursin-Holm, vice-president for new business in Telenor and chairman of the board of More Mobile Relations, said: "We are currently witnessing how mobile internet is picking up and creating new demands from consumers. Additionally, we are also experiencing an emerging interest in mobile marketing services.

“This opens up interesting business opportunities for Telenor. Mobile marketing is still in an early stage in Scandinavia and our new company is well positioned to grow this market.”
