FPL FiberNet can offer a suite of IP-based services to its customers

US energy company FPL FiberNet has deployed an Alcatel-Lucent internet protocol (IP) multi-protocol label switching solution to deliver ethernet and IP services.

The French-US network solutions provider says its solution will enable FPL FiberNet to offer a suite of IP-based services to its customers - who include telecoms companies, mobile operators, internet service providers, and enterprise and government customers throughout Florida.

Alcatel-Lucent also claims the solution will help FPL FiberNet meet anticipated future growth requirements.

FPL FiberNet president Carmen Perez said: “The ability to cost-effectively deliver metro ethernet services - as well as the efficient aggregation of multi-service traffic - over an all-IP network is critical to our ability to meet our customers’ demand for advanced data services.

“By enabling high-performance, multi-service switching throughout our network, Alcatel-Lucent’s solution - coupled with its experience in IP network transformation - gives us a significant advantage as we move to the next phase of the evolution of our network.”
